The award presented at MIPIM in Cannes on Tuesday night is awarded to the best solution in the field of climate and environment in real estate.

“It is very exciting to receive such an award at one of the world's largest meeting places for the real estate industry. Our team is passionate about making the real estate industry greener, and it is very nice to recognize that what we do creates real value for the globe and customers,” says Jonas Ibsen Brynildsrud, CEO of Sunday Power.

The company recently also won the energy category in the Nordic Proptech Award in Copenhagen.

“We currently only operate in Norway, and it is fun to get recognition for what we do also outside the borders by reaching the top of the two international clubs that hang so high,” says Ibsen Brynildsrud.

Green buildings are becoming increasingly important, both because banks favour more sustainable property portfolios and because properties with lower energy consumption often achieve better energy character and increased value.

“We see that the energy character is an increasingly important value driver. In the first instance, it is mostly driven by the banking side, but also more and more from tenants. A rooftop solar installation can lift the energy character by both one and two steps,” says Ibsen Brynildsrud.

Sunday Power works with many of the largest real estate companies in Norway, such as Bulk Industrial Real Estate, Ragde Eiendom, Alti, ORO Eiendom, Eiendomsspar and Logistea. Collaboration made public with Ragde last week will be one of the largest agreements for solar energy in Norway.

Last year, Sunday Power secured a major financing agreement with Norwegian energy group NTE, which ensures long-term ownership of the solar plants at a low capital cost. Sunday develops the projects from A-Z, and operates, maintains and manages the facilities, as well as being responsible for delivering excellent customer experiences.
