The solar startup strengthens its growth drive by hiring Rikard af Ekenstam (50) as commercial director.
- Sunday Power will become a leading player for solar cells in commercial buildings in Europe, and we are very pleased to have hired Rikard af Ekenstam as Commercial Director. Rikard has extensive experience in business development and customer growth in global growth companies, and will be responsible for increasing our growth rate. Rikard has over 20 years of experience in finance and technology, where he has worked on both real estate and renewable energy, and we are confident that we have found a perfect match for both Sunday Power and our customers,” says Jonas Ibsen Brynildsrud, CEO of Sunday Power.
Ekenstam has previously led sales and strategy at firms such as the UK-based unicorn OakNorth, and the technology company Copal Partners, where he was part of group management while growing from 250 to 3,000 employees, before the company was sold to Moody's Corporation. Rikard started his career in London at ABN AMRO and Mizuho, as Head of Commercial and Investment Banking for Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, among others. Ekenstam holds a Masters in Economics and Administrative Management from the University of St. Andrews and has taken postgraduate studies at The Wharton School.
Sunday Power aims to make photovoltaics easy and profitable for the real estate industry. The product provides both the farm owner and tenant with all the benefits of solar cells, without them having to invest time or capital. The business model is made possible by their proprietary software, which they connect to the solar system, and the company announced just before the summer that it had hired Håkon Trømborg from the Røkke company Cognite as its new Chief Technology Officer. Since its launch in autumn, Sunday Power has enjoyed increasing demand, and has already managed to get players such as Bulk, Eiendomsspar, Ticon, GG Gruppen, Medvind and Heldal Eiendom on the customer list.
- I am very excited to join Jonas and the rest of the Sunday Power team to build a leading star in renewable energy, both in Norway and Europe. I am very motivated to be able to use my experience from business development and sales management to help the real estate industry accelerate the green shift, so that together we can have a significant positive impact on society and the climate,” says Rikard af Ekenstam.
