Ragde Eiendom is using the roof to ensure green energy for its commercial buildings. The agreement involves the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on more than 20 large buildings in Norway, with a total production capacity of over 5 MWp.

“We have high ambitions related to energy and sustainability, and are continuously working to optimise energy consumption across our property portfolio. Self-generated solar energy is an important tool for achieving our goals, and the partnership with Sunday Power ensures a higher rate of establishment. This investment in solar energy is one of the largest we have seen in commercial buildings in Norway. It also makes us well equipped for potential upcoming EU requirements for solar energy on commercial buildings,” says Lars Å, business developer at Ragde Eiendom.

Through the collaboration, Ragde adopts the Solar as a Service model from Sunday Power. This ensures a smooth and efficient deployment of solar energy on the properties with electricity at a good market price. At the same time, it gives tenants access to locally produced, renewable energy and more attractive premises with improved energy character. It is the NTE that owns the facilities through its strategic partnership with Sunday Power.

Green buildings are becoming increasingly important, both because banks favour more sustainable property portfolios and because property with lower energy consumption often achieves higher value.

“We are committed to ensuring that our tenants are satisfied with the premises they rent from us. Green and energy-efficient buildings are becoming increasingly important, not only for us, but also for our tenants,” Åmell says.

The portfolio that will get solar on the roof includes buildings all over Norway and includes many large tenants.

Sunday Power, which specializes in supplying solar energy solutions to commercial buildings, sees great value in its cooperation with Ragde Eiendom.

“Our partnership with Radge and Ragde Innovation is comprehensive, building on close collaboration to maximize the value of these installations for all parties involved. As part of the process, Sunday Power is conducting a thorough analysis of the building stock to identify and rank the most suitable properties for solar installations. This assessment includes factors such as the size of the property, the suitability of the roof, the facilities and the bespoke installation design,” says Rikard af Ekenstam, Chief Commercial Officer of Sunday Power.

Sunday Power solicits quotations from EPC suppliers, works with the energy advisor on the energy character of the building and leads the entire installation process and subsequent operation of the facilities.

“Our goal is to minimize the use of resources at Radge, while at the same time involving them in all key steps to ensure that we meet their strategic objectives,” says af Ekenstam.

The solar installations are expected to help raise the energy class of most of the properties, while securing ENOVA support for several of the investments. The installations started in the fourth quarter of 2024 and will be completed during 2025.

“Ragde Eiendom shows how sustainable choices can also be uncomplicated and good business. The solution makes it easier for property operators to reduce energy costs, meet new requirements and strengthen the value of their buildings,” concludes af Ekenstam.
