The building at Orkanger today houses, among others, Svorka, Bravida and Posten. Now it is also equipped with a 320 kWp photovoltaic system provided by Sunday Power, in partnership with NTE.

“We have had clear targets to reduce energy use, and the combination of building and engineering measures and solar energy has resulted in a cut of over 50%. It is both profitable and good for the environment,” says Martin Wormdal, project manager at Salvesen & Thams Eiendom.

Salvesen & Thams Eiendom has chosen the model Solar as a Service. It involves Sunday Power securing funding for the plant through its partnership with NTE, and taking responsibility for the entire delivery - from installation to operation and maintenance. The customer makes the roof surface available and can produce local, renewable energy without the need for equity.

A rehabilitated building with low consumption and sun on the roof

Tiltaksvegen 22 shows how existing buildings can be upgraded to a modern, energy-efficient commercial premises. With well-insulated structures, heat recovery, demand-controlled ventilation and SD facilities, the building has become one of the most energy efficient in the region. The solar photovoltaic system further contributes and provides the built energy label Green A.

“Here, energy is created on roofs that would otherwise have been unused. Solar energy is a natural part of a major rehabilitation, and I would like to commend Salvesen & Thams Eiendom for making moves that really work,” says Johan Asplin, Client Executive at Sunday Power.

One of the largest in the region
The project was led by Siri Bjørnstad Jensen of Sunday Power. She highlights that the solar photovoltaic system is one of the largest in the region and will have significant effect:

“With an installed power of 320 kWp and an estimated annual production of 220,000 kWh, this is a solid plant that will cover a significant proportion of the consumption in the building. It's nice to see that solar fits so well into a holistic rehab like this one.
