Solar power with real impact

“As a real estate company, we have to take our share of the responsibility for reducing CO₂ emissions,” says Metha Leonhardsen, Director of Strategy and Organization at L.A. Lund.
“Last year, we carried out a double materiality analysis which showed that energy and energy efficiency are among our most important focus areas. Solar energy is a measure that delivers real impact — and that’s why we’re now making a major investment in it.”

The first project will be at Tjøllingveien 45 in Larvik, where MENY will be the main consumer of the rooftop electricity. The 383 kWp system will supply locally produced renewable energy — and make the building L.A. Lund’s first taxonomy-compliant Class A property.

Providing the rooftop

Through the partnership, L.A. Lund is using the Solar as a Service solution from Sunday Power.
This means Sunday Power will secure financing for the solar plant through its partnership with NTE, and take responsibility for the entire delivery — from installation to operation and maintenance.

“We’re simply making our rooftop available and naturally have to carry out some basic preparations. But Sunday Power handles everything else. That’s exactly why we chose them as our partner — they have the expertise and take responsibility for solving whatever may arise,” says Stein Landmark, Head of Development at L.A. Lund.

Meeting tenants’ needs

Several of L.A. Lund’s tenants are required to report on sustainability under the CSRD framework starting from the 2024 financial year. This includes emissions linked to the buildings they occupy.

“To secure long-term leases, we have to adapt to our tenants’ needs. With solar energy, we can both reduce emissions and help them meet their reporting requirements,” says Metha Leonhardsen.

The start of a long-term collaboration

Sunday Power praises L.A. Lund for its commitment to solar energy.

“L.A. Lund is taking the lead as a company that takes environmental responsibility seriously. We’re proud to enter a partnership with them. This shows the value that can be created on rooftops that would otherwise go unused — without impacting nature,” says Ole-Bjørn Horn, Client Executive at Sunday Power.
