After installing solar photovoltaic systems at Bulk Industrial Real Estates' new Kjellmann building in Lillestrøm, Bulk is now partnering with Sunday Power to install solar photovoltaic systems on several buildings.
- This will contribute to a significant increase in produced solar power and reduced greenhouse gas emissions in the portfolio. “Baåde Bulk and our tenants want the greatest possible production of local solar power, therefore we are extending our cooperation with Sunday Power,” says Rune Bang, Vice President Projects at Bulk Industrial Real Estate.
In the first phase of the collaboration, four new photovoltaic plants will be installed in Bulk Park Lindeberg in Lillestrøm Municipality. These plants are expected to produce up to 1 million kilowatt-hours of solar energy a year, and will be ready during the summer. The annual reduced greenhouse gas emissions resulting from this production are estimated at over 400 tonnes of CO! 2, which will make a significant difference in the fight against climate change.
Through its “Solar as a Service” model, Sunday Power is responsible for financing, installation and operation of the facilities, as well as providing the software that, according to them, streamlines operations, reporting and billing. The tenants who get to benefit from locally produced and cost-effective solar energy include Hydroscand, Antra and Kominox.
Beneficial business model
After a thorough strategy and bid process, Bulk has selected Sunday Power as the solar energy partner for these builds. Bulk considered several players in the market, including the possibility of building a venture in-house. After careful consideration, Bulk has come to the conclusion that Sunday Power's business model and platform is the one that hits Bulk and their tenants best.
“Producing our own energy by covering our roofs with solar panels is both environmentally friendly and economical. Sunday Power's business model is good because it is beneficial both for us as a farm owner and for our tenants. In addition, we have positive experience from a previous project and like their investment in developing smart technology,” says Bang.
Rapid growth
“We are proud to announce that we are now extending our collaboration on solar energy with Bulk Industrial Real Estate. Bulk is a leading player in the development of logistics buildings and is at the forefront of the green shift in the industry. We are very happy to continue working with such a professional and competent organization that is really serious about its commitment to sustainability. Now we look forward to delivering solid projects and solar energy solutions for Bulk and their tenants,” says Jonas Ibsen Brynildsrud, CEO of Sunday Power.
Sunday Power has grown rapidly since their launch on the Norwegian market two years ago. The company has employed from 2 to 12 employees in the past year and expects to carry out around 50 installations in 2023. The collaboration with Bulk on the development of the new solar plants in Bulk Park Lindeberg is another important milestone for the company. Sunday Power will be responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of the solar installations, using proprietary technology to ensure efficient and smart utilisation of solar energy for the best interests of Bulk and its tenants.
